Mod 3.1: Narrating Personal Interest

I honestly never thought I would be writing about surrogacy but watching a story unravel before my very eyes is something I just cannot ignore. A story that shows the warmth, respect and love that a group of individuals all developed for one another and watching how their journey has enriched not only their lives, but their families as well is something I will never forget.

Personally I had never dealt with surrogacy until after witnessing a close friend go through the extraordinary process of being a surrogate mother. Her experience was something really special and I feel that writing about her experience and sharing it via my blog could possibly really benefit others in her situation.

I watched my friend go through the ups and downs and admittedly at times wondered why this appealed to her. It is not that I am by any means against surrogacy; I just know that I could never actually go through being a surrogate myself. I still marvel at my friends’ selflessness.

My friend along with the family she helped bring new life into this world found an extreme lack of information about certain aspects to surrogacy. Although there is plenty of clinical information available, there was just that void of personal experiences. They encountered various issues that they are willing to share with others and I feel like I was given a front row seat. As a spectator in this whole process, I want to share my views as well. It was my friend who was undergoing this journey with two people who started out as complete strangers but as their paths joined, a new wonderful unforgettable friendship was formed and I believe it is a story that should be shared.
