This was my first attempt at using twitter. I have been trying to avoid it as much as possible due to the fact I just didn’t want to get involved with another online networking situation. Admittedly I got excited when I had a response. ;-). Before I twittered I checked out this site http://www.techforluddites.com/2009/02/the-twitter-hash-tag-what-is-it-and-how-do-you-use-it.html
My first tweet was directed at a recent episode of Dr Phil, where a woman agreed to be the surrogate for a couple, but decided after the twins were born that she wanted to keep the babies due to revelations about the intended mother having mental illness and some DUI charges. There has been a huge backlash about this, so I thought I would put it out there in twitter land and see if anyone responds. I used #tags of #surrogacy and #Dr Phil
Here is my first ever tweet (with a reply which surprised me as it was quite quick):
Joevsi Surrogate keeps babies after it’s revealed the intended mother to be has health issues http://drphil.com/shows/show/1415/ #Surrogacy #DrPhil

@Joevsi I watched this episode and found it very upsetting. I could see both points of view - a very hard topic with difficult choices.
My second tweet was directed at the article I wrote about for module 4.1. I think that article covers a situation where people would have an opinion, but time will tell.
My second tweet:
Joevsi A gay mans legal battle for his babies born via #surrogacy http://news.in.msn.com/international/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4475361
My opinion of twitter:
I know twitter is a means of quick and short communication, but I was getting frustrated with the 140 character limit.
The most appropriate #tag for me to use was #surrogacy when searching other tweets on the surrogacy topic.
The tweets that I re-tweeted to were:
surropepperbird : Recent Surrogacy article in Glamour- my thoughts http://nblo.gs/aBTTM
I retweeted this post as after reading the blog, it directly relates to my topic about how my friend was a gestational surrogacy – meaning the babies are not hers biologically. It was interesting to read about another woman in that situation, as I am sure there are many more just like her.
The other retweet was for this post:
rummelhartfive @NOH8Campaign Why I Posed With My Uterus http://t.co/N6PsQjx #NOH8 #HRC #Surrogate #surrogacy #lgbt #ally
This woman has given birth to 7 children – 3 of her own and 2 sets of twins for gay couples. She talks about how gay couples have every right to have children as well, definitely a topic I have covered in bursts throughout my writings.
ATTENTION: There will be more added to this post as I will follow up to see if anyone re-tweets or replies to my tweets.
